South Dakota State beat North Dakota State 34-6 at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD on February 25, 2024. The Jackrabbits piled up bonus points in several key bouts to build a decisive margin and leave the Bison with just six team points.
A trio of bonus wins proved decisive. At 197 pounds Tanner Sloan won by technical fall, hammering out a 15-0 result that earned five team points. Tanner Cook added a fall at 165 for six team points, and Bennett Berge followed with a fall at 184 for another six. Those three bouts alone accounted for 17 of SDSU’s team points and swung the dual heavily in Brookings.
Tanner Jordan’s 13-0 major decision at 125 contributed four more team points, extending the cushion and limiting North Dakota State’s opportunities to chip away. Cael Swensen also notched a major decision at 157, further emphasizing SDSU’s edge in bonus production on the day.
North Dakota State managed six points but could not overcome the steady string of bonus victories by South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits’ mix of pins, a technical fall, and majors was the clear deciding factor in a 34-6 final score.
