Ohio State @ Indiana Recap
Ohio State men's wrestling knocked off Indiana 27-13 at Indiana University in Bloomington on February 9, 2025. The Buckeyes built a lead with multiple bonus-point wins, and those high-value results were the difference in a dual that ultimately swung by 14 points.
Two dominant technical falls supplied Ohio State with an early surge. Jesse Mendez demolished Lucas Peters 19-3 by technical fall, and Brandon Cannon followed with an 18-3 technical fall over Ryan Garvick. Those two techs alone generated 10 team points and put Ohio State in a commanding position.
Indiana answered with a big individual performance when Tyler Lillard earned a 15-2 major decision over Brock Herman, bringing four points back for the Hoosiers. Ohio State, however, closed the door with more bonus scoring. Carson Kharchla recorded a 19-4 technical fall and Ryder Rogotzke finished with a fall over Donnell Washington. Kharchla’s tech and Rogotzke’s pin added the extra-margin points that made the dual out of reach.
In the end the Buckeyes’ collection of tech falls and a pin were the decisive factors. Indiana fought back in the 165-pound bout, but Ohio State’s multiple bonus victories across the middle weights produced the margin of victory and secured the 27-13 road win.
