Bucknell vs Wisconsin Recap
Wisconsin Men's Wrestling beat Bucknell Men's Wrestling 23-15 at Davis Gym in Lewisburg, PA on December 7, 2024. The Badgers’ ability to rack up bonus points was the difference in the dual meet, as several decisive results swung the team score in their favor.
Nicolar Rivera’s 13-1 major decision over Ty Kapusta and Zan Fugitt’s 11-2 major over Kurt Phipps delivered two four-point efforts that helped build Wisconsin’s margin. The biggest single play came from Cale Anderson, who recorded a fall over Sean Walker to lock down six team points and give Wisconsin a cushion Bucknell struggled to erase. Those three bonus outcomes accounted for the bulk of Wisconsin’s 23 points and forced Bucknell to chase the comeback.
Bucknell answered with a big performance of its own when Dillon Bechtold recorded a 21-5 technical fall over Niccolo Colucci at 197 pounds for five team points, keeping the Bison within reach late in the dual. Despite that, Wisconsin’s combination of two majors and a pin kept Bucknell from overtaking them, and the Badgers closed out the dual with an eight-point margin. The bonus-point edge proved decisive in a meet that featured several dominant individual results on both sides.
