South Dakota State @ Wyoming Recap

South Dakota State Men's Wrestling defeated Wyoming Men's Wrestling 33-3 in Wyoming on Feb. 1, 2024. The Jackrabbits piled up bonus points en route to a lopsided road win, while Wyoming was limited to just three team points.

South Dakota State got three major decisions that swung the scoreboard. At 149 pounds Alek Martin beat Gabe Willochell 12-2 by major decision, and Cade DeVos turned a 174-pound bout into a 15-3 major decision. Bennett Berge added another major at 184 pounds with a 12-2 victory. Those four-point wins built a cushion Wyoming could not overcome.

The sequence was capped by a match-clinching fall from Tanner Sloan at 197 pounds. Sloan’s pin delivered six team points and capped the Jackrabbits’ bonus-point run, making the 30-point margin inevitable and leaving Wyoming with no path back into the dual.

With four bonus-point results accounting for the bulk of the scoring, South Dakota State left Wyoming struggling for answers on the mat. The final 33-3 score reflected a night when SDSU’s ability to finish matches turned individual wins into decisive team points.
