Rutgers @ Rider Recap
Rutgers scored a convincing 32-6 win at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J., on January 7, 2024, pushing the Scarlet Knights past the Broncs in the dual meet. The margin was built on multiple bonus-point victories that separated the teams on the scoreboard.
Four bonus wins defined the night for Rutgers. At 141 pounds Mitch Moore was credited with a fall worth six team points. Jackson Turley followed with a pin of Michael Wilson at 174 for another six points. In the upper weights Rutgers collected majors as John Poznanski rolled Azeem Bell 17-5 at 197 for four team points and Yaraslau Yara took an 11-2 major decision at heavyweight for four more.
That sequence of bonus results was the clear turning point. The two falls and two major decisions produced a scoring run that left Rider scrambling for offense, and those high-value outcomes were the primary reason the dual never tightened into a one- or two-bout race.
Individual contributions were decisive: Moore and Turley’s falls supplied the maximum team payoff on two occasions, while Poznanski and Yara converted dominant decisions into additional margin. Rider managed just six team points overall, and Rutgers’ balance of pinning ability and bonus decisions carried them to the 32-6 victory.
