Bucknell @ Lehigh Recap
Lehigh topped Bucknell 31-11 at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., on Feb. 9, 2024, in a dual that came down to bonus-point wrestling. The Mountain Hawks piled up technical falls throughout the lineup and turned a tight meet into a comfortable win.
Lehigh got big margins from its middle and lower weights. Luke Stanich delivered an 18-1 technical fall at 125 pounds and Max Brignola followed with a 20-5 technical fall at 157, each worth five team points. Malyke Hines also produced a dominant 21-6 technical fall at 141, and those bonus victories created a run of scoring that Bucknell struggled to answer.
Bucknell’s clearest moment came at 174, where Myles Takats picked up an 18-3 technical fall over Connor Herceg to swing five points back to the Bison and interrupt Lehigh’s momentum. That performance was Bucknell’s lone bonus victory in the key results, and it briefly narrowed the gap before the Mountain Hawks’ depth and additional bonus wins pushed the score back out.
In the end Lehigh’s accumulation of technical-fall victories was decisive. The five-team-point wins by Stanich, Hines, Brignola and others provided the margin needed to finish 31-11, with Lehigh’s ability to secure bonus points proving to be the difference on the mat.
