West Virginia @ Oklahoma State Recap
Oklahoma State Men's Wrestling defeated West Virginia Men's Wrestling 30-12 at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK on January 19, 2025. The Cowboys’ ability to pile up bonus points proved decisive in the Big 12 dual.
West Virginia got a big play when Jett Strickenberger pinned Troy Spratley at 125 pounds for a six-team-point fall, keeping the Mountaineers plugged into the scoreline. Oklahoma State answered with multiple high-scoring wins, beginning with Tagen Jamison’s 14-4 major decision at 141 that delivered four team points and momentum back to the home side.
The momentum swing widened as Oklahoma State continued to rack up bonus points. Dean Hamiti Jr. dominated at 174, earning a 19-3 technical fall for five team points, and Wyatt Hendrickson closed out the upper weights with a fall at 285, another six-team-point victory. Those bonus outcomes, combined with other OSU decisions and majors, accounted for much of the Cowboys’ total and made the margin insurmountable for West Virginia.
In the end, West Virginia’s 125-pound pin was not enough to overcome Oklahoma State’s string of bonus wins. The Cowboys’ mix of majors, technical falls, and pins produced the 18-point difference and the 30-12 final.
