Utah Valley beats Northern Colorado 34-17 in Greeley

Utah Valley collected multiple bonus-point results — including three technical falls and a pin — to build a margin it preserved through late individual wins at Bank of Colorado Arena on Feb. 15, 2026.

GREELEY, Colo. — Utah Valley defeated Northern Colorado 34-17 at Bank of Colorado Arena on Feb. 15, 2026.

The visiting scoring surge came from a string of bonus-point outcomes. No. 16 David Evans finished by technical fall, 17-2, at 149 pounds and No. 18 Haiden Drury recorded a 17-1 technical fall at 141. Jack Forbes closed the dual with a 20-4 technical fall at 285, and Jake Castagneto opened the lineup with a first-period pin at 149 after a 3-point takedown at 1:16 of the first period.

Those bonus results supplied a lead Northern Colorado could not erase despite a series of decision and overtime victories. Christian Smoot posted a 9-0 major decision at 184, and Bridger Ricks, ranked No. 25 at 125, beat Bryson Valdez 4-0. Kael Bennie, ranked No. 29 at 197, added a 9-4 decision.

Northern Colorado countered with key middle- and upper-weight wins that kept the dual close into the late bouts. No. 11 Dominick Serrano produced a 13-1 major decision at 133, sealing the bonus with a third-period takedown at about the 21-second mark, a four-point nearfall and riding time. Kilian Schultz earned a 14-6 major decision at 165 and Daishun Powe won 6-1 at 157.

The dual featured several late swings. Trevor Frank rallied for a 5-3 decision at 165 by scoring an escape and a three-point takedown at the 0:56 mark of the second period. Murphy Menke forced sudden victory at 174 with a late riding-time point in the third and then secured the overtime takedown to win 8-5. Mahonri Rushton earned a 2-1 decision in multiple overtimes at 184 against Caleb Uhlenhopp, who entered the match ranked No. 33 at 184.

Utah Valley’s bonus-point production clustered early and returned late, establishing separations that Northern Colorado’s string of close wins could not fully close. The visiting team’s technical falls and the opening pin delivered the decisive swings in the scoring.

Northern Colorado’s athletics site described the meet as the program’s home finale and noted Utah Valley built its advantage with bonus-point wins. Historical matchup records show the programs have met previously, with head-to-head history dating back to 2004.

The dual supplied several ranked matchups and consequential results for both teams’ remaining regular-season schedules. Individual bout outcomes and the event-level scoring are recorded in the official event and bout summaries for the Feb. 15 meeting at Bank of Colorado Arena.
