West Virginia @ Appalachian State Recap
West Virginia Men’s Wrestling handled Appalachian State 37-8 in Boone, North Carolina on November 22, 2024, picking up a dominant dual meet victory on the road.
A string of bonus-point finishes put the Mountaineers well in front. Jace Schafer’s fall at 125 earned six team points and Jordan Titus followed with a 17-2 technical fall at 141, giving West Virginia a sizable cushion through the upper weights. Those two bonus results swung momentum and forced Appalachian State to fight from behind for much of the night.
Appalachian State answered in the mid-weights when Kaden Keiser rolled to a 21-5 technical fall over Blake Boyers at 149, the Mountaineers’ lone blemish-free sequence checked by a tough performance from Keiser. That win kept the Mountaineers from being completely shut out of bonus scoring, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
Peyton Hall’s fall at 165 helped close the book for West Virginia, and the Mountaineers added decisive wins down the card to finish with a 29-point margin. In short, West Virginia’s multiple bonus-point victories were the deciding factor in a convincing road dual.
