Drexel @ Clarion Recap
Drexel defeated Clarion 31-3 at Clarion University in Clarion, PA on December 4, 2024. The Dragons turned a tight meet into a rout by collecting multiple bonus-point victories, while Clarion managed just three team points over the nine contested weights.
The key results all came in the middle weights. At 184 pounds Giuseppe Hoose dominated Adrian Gacek with a 16-0 technical fall, picking up five team points and delivering the biggest swing of the night. Jordan Soriano at 141 added a 17-5 major decision over David McClelland for four more team points, and Jack Janda’s 10-2 major decision at 174 produced another four. Those three bonus wins accounted for the bulk of Drexel’s margin and effectively decided the dual.
Clarion was unable to answer with bonus offense of its own, and the Dragons’ string of bonus results created a gap Clarion could not overcome. Drexel’s balance of big wins in multiple weight classes kept the momentum firmly on the road team’s side and left Clarion chasing points late in the lineup.
For Drexel the takeaway is clear: the ability to convert opportunities into majors and a technical fall turned what might have been a close meet into a lopsided scoreline. Clarion will look to tighten up against bonus-scoring opponents after coming up short in those decisive matchups.
