Purdue @ Nebraska Recap
Nebraska used a string of bonus-point results to edge Purdue 27-14 at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln on January 21, 2024. The Cornhuskers collected three matches that each added more than a single team point, and that cushion proved enough to fend off two big wins from the Boilermakers.
A decisive stretch for Nebraska came through Ridge Lovett’s fall at 149 and Silas Allred’s 19-4 technical fall at 197. Lovett’s pin provided a six-point swing that erased any tight margin, and Allred’s dominant tech fall tacked on five more points, giving Nebraska the extra room needed down the lineup. Antrell Taylor’s 14-6 major decision at 165 added another four-team points and further widened the gap.
Purdue battled back in a couple of spots. Matt Ramos scored a 19-4 technical fall at 125 for five team points, and Joey Blaze notched a fall at 157 for six, keeping the Boilermakers competitive and preventing Nebraska from running away entirely. Those bonus victories by Purdue were critical, but Nebraska’s trio of bonus outcomes ultimately decided the dual.
In the end Nebraska’s accumulation of bonus points separated the teams. With multiple matches ending in falls, majors, and tech falls, the Cornhuskers turned those high-value results into a 13-point margin of victory over Purdue.
