Navy beat American 24-21 in Annapolis on December 21, 2024, in a tight EIWA dual that came down to bonus points and a handful of high-impact bouts.

Navy collected multiple bonus victories that kept them in front, including Josh Koderhandt’s 24-8 technical fall at 141 and Danny Wask’s 17-2 technical fall at 174. Daniel Williams also delivered a key major decision, winning 9-1 at 197, a result that supplied crucial extra team points and helped tilt the dual in Navy’s favor.

American mounted a fierce comeback with three falls, each worth six team points. Raymond Lopez pinned Brendan Ferretti at 133, Lucas White finished Zyan Hall by fall at 184, and Will Jarrell closed with a pin at heavyweight over Payton Thomas. Those pins erased much of Navy’s cushion and made the match a one-score affair late.

In the end the dual was decided by the accumulation of bonus points on both sides and Navy’s ability to eke out majors and tech falls in key spots. The 3-point final margin reflected an evenly matched meet where a couple of bonus outcomes separated the teams.
