Hofstra @ Binghamton Recap

Binghamton defeated Hofstra 31-6 in a January 9, 2025 dual at Binghamton University, handing the Pride a 25-point loss in EIWA competition. The match was decided by a trio of bonus-point victories that swung the scoreboard decisively in the Bearcats’ favor.

Micah Roes turned in one of the night’s biggest performances at 133 pounds, rolling to a 19-3 technical fall over Gauge Shipp for five team points. At 174 pounds Brevin Cassella matched that output, shutting down Eric Shindel with a 21-4 technical fall that also earned five team points. Those two tech falls combined for 10 critical points and put Binghamton well ahead.

The clincher came at heavyweight, where Cory Day finished Danny Church by fall, a six-point pin that put the dual out of reach for Hofstra. Between the two technical falls and the fall at 285, Binghamton collected 16 of its 31 team points on bonus results — the difference in a contest that otherwise produced limited scoring for the Pride.

Hofstra was able to muster only six team points across the remaining bouts, so Binghamton’s ability to convert opportunities into majors and a pin proved decisive. The Bearcats’ bonus-point production on the night was the clear factor in a comprehensive dual victory.
