Columbia @ Brown Recap
Columbia defeated Brown 27-17 in Providence on February 16, 2025, at Brown University. The Lions picked up enough bonus points to create separation, while Brown answered with a couple of big wins that kept the dual competitive.
A string of bonus victories was the difference for Columbia. Kai Owen turned a key bout into six team points with a fall over Giuseppe Iamunno at 149 pounds. Richard Fedalen followed with a dominating 10-0 major decision over Ethan Mojena at 157, and Nick Fine added another major, beating Andrew Reall 8-0 at 184. Those bonus-point results supplied the margin Columbia needed in the middle weights.
Brown countered with a handful of high-value outcomes of its own, most notably Hunter Adrian’s 17-2 technical fall over Connor Smith at 133, which was a five-point swing. Brown also collected hard-fought decisions and a late pin that kept the Bears within striking distance, but the Lions’ multiple majors and a fall created too large a cushion to overcome.
In the end Columbia’s collection of bonus wins proved decisive in a back-and-forth Ivy matchup. The 10-point final margin reflected the impact of falls and majors on the team scoreboard and left Columbia with a 27-17 road victory in Providence.
