Indiana uses string of bonus results to top Michigan State 32-13

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — No. 25 Indiana collected four bonus-point outcomes, including two technical falls and a pin, to build a decisive margin in a 32-13 Big Ten dual over Michigan State on Jan. 25-26, 2026.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana defeated Michigan State 32-13 at McCracken Court at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, using multiple bonus-point results to turn a close early dual into a comfortable home victory.

No. 13 Jacob Moran opened the session with a 19-4 technical fall at 125 pounds, building his margin through a string of takedowns and by being awarded a stall point after Nick Corday was penalized for stalling. The technical fall came before the end of the second period and supplied an early five-team-point boost for the Hoosiers.

Michigan State replied in the second bout as Caleb Weiand rallied to win 7-4 in sudden-victory overtime at 133 pounds, scoring an overtime takedown to put the Spartans on the board.

Indiana regained control behind three consecutive bonus outcomes after intermission. Henry Porter recorded a 20-3 technical fall at 141, No. 23 Tyler Lillard followed with a 21-5 technical fall at 165, and Derek Gilcher added a 20-4 technical fall at 174. Those tech falls widened Indiana’s lead and set the stage for the match-clinching result that followed.

The biggest swing came at 184, where No. 13 Sam Goin finished Luke Vanadia by fall. Goin’s sequence included takedowns and a four-point near fall before the third-period pin, a result that effectively put the dual out of reach for Michigan State.

Indiana also collected a decision at 157 from Bryce Lowery and a 4-0 decision at 197 from Gabe Sollars, both contributing to the team total. Sollars’ win came against No. 27 Kael Wisler and was built on an escape and a second-period takedown.

Michigan State answered late with heavyweight Josh Terrill pinning Caleb Marzolino, a fall that supplied six points for the Spartans but arrived after Indiana had established its bonus-point advantage.

Indiana entered the dual ranked No. 25 in team listings and had the meet rescheduled from Sunday to Monday because of inclement weather. The Hoosiers’ four bonus wins — three tech falls and a fall — were the decisive factor in the 19-point margin.

Indiana improved its dual record with the victory; Michigan State fell further behind in Big Ten play. The match featured several ranked matchups and decisive finishes that swung the team score in Indiana’s favor.
