Bucknell vs Drexel Recap
Drexel Men's Wrestling edged Bucknell Men's Wrestling 20-14 at Davis Gym in Lewisburg, PA on January 24, 2025 in a dual that came down to bonus points. The Dragons collected the margin they needed with one particularly emphatic victory, while Bucknell answered with two major decisions that kept the Bison within striking distance.
The standout match came at 125 pounds, where Desmond Pleasant of Drexel recorded a 21-6 technical fall for a five-team-point swing. That bonus victory was one of the biggest single contributions to the final score and gave Drexel a momentum and scoring cushion they could protect through the middle and heavyweight bouts.
Bucknell countered with major decisions from Noah Mulvaney at 165 pounds and Nolan Springer at 285 pounds, each worth four team points. Mulvaney’s 12-3 major and Springer’s 15-2 major were the kind of bonus-point performances Bucknell needed to narrow the gap, and together they accounted for eight of the Bison’s 14 points.
In the end Drexel’s bonus-point work, highlighted by Pleasant’s technical fall, made the difference in a tight EIWA matchup. The two majors by Bucknell kept the score close, but they were not enough to overcome Drexel’s overall team scoring, and the Dragons left Lewisburg with the 20-14 victory.
