North Dakota State @ Virginia

Virginia defeated North Dakota State 31-6 in Charlottesville on November 1, 2024, at the University of Virginia. The ACC squad used a string of bonus-point victories to build and protect a big lead over the Big 12 visitors.

Virginia collected four bonus wins that decided the dual. At 157 pounds Michael Gioffre earned a 12-1 major decision, and at 174 Rocco Contino rolled to a 22-6 technical fall. In the upper weights Max Shulaw finished Michael Baker by fall, and heavyweight Gabe Christenson closed out his match with a 9-1 major decision.

The middle-and upper-weight surge proved to be the turning point. Contino’s technical fall and Shulaw’s fall in particular supplied the extra team points that pushed the margin out of reach, and Christenson’s major decision helped seal the outcome.

North Dakota State was never able to counter Virginia’s bonus-point output, managing just six team points on the night. Virginia’s depth and ability to convert opportunities into majors, techs, and a fall made the difference in a convincing 31-6 dual victory.
