Virginia @ Penn Recap
Pennsylvania Men's Wrestling edged out Virginia Men's Wrestling Team 24-16 in Philadelphia on December 22, 2025. The dual came down to a handful of bonus-point outcomes and a crucial fall that helped Penn pull away in a tight matchup.
Evan Mougalian’s fall at 133 pounds delivered six team points for Penn and proved pivotal. That pin gave Pennsylvania a sizable boost that, along with a string of decision victories in other bouts, created the cushion the Quakers needed to finish with 24 team points.
Virginia answered with several high-impact performances. At 157 pounds Colton Washleski, ranked #26, pulled off an upset over Penn’s #18 Jude Swisher, winning 7-4 by decision. The Cavaliers also produced two dominant bonus wins late in the lineup: Jack Lesher rolled to a 15-0 technical fall at 184, and Brenan Morgan, also #26, closed with a 16-0 technical fall at 285. Those bonus-point efforts kept Virginia within striking distance and trimmed the margin.
In the end, Penn’s combination of Mougalian’s pin and consistent decision wins elsewhere offset Virginia’s three bonus-point victories and the 157-pound upset. The bonus-heavy nature of the dual made for a back-and-forth scoreline, but Pennsylvania’s ability to collect the fall and accumulate decision points ultimately decided the meet.
