Northwestern @ Indiana Recap
Indiana used a heavy dose of bonus points to beat Northwestern 25-13 at Indiana University in Bloomington on Feb. 1, 2025. The Hoosiers piled up enough extra-team points across the lineup to build a double-digit margin and leave the Wildcats short of an answer.
Jacob Moran’s 21-6 technical fall at 125 pounds was one of the early big blows, worth five team points and taking the match well before the final whistle. Donnell Washington matched that impact at 184, also finishing by technical fall (21-5) to add another five-point swing and further tilt the score Indiana’s way. Those two bonus wins gave the Hoosiers a clear cushion.
Northwestern’s biggest moment came from Trevor Chumbley at 157, whose 11-2 major decision delivered four crucial points for the Wildcats and kept the dual competitive. Indiana closed the gap on their side with Jacob Bullock’s 17-5 major at heavyweight, a four-point effort that helped seal the meeting and prevented any late comeback.
In the end Indiana’s ability to convert opportunities into bonus points, rather than a string of close decisions, decided the dual. The combination of two technical falls and timely majors left Northwestern answering throughout, and the final 25-13 score reflected how those bonus outcomes shaped the team result.
