Missouri defeats No. 16 Oklahoma 23-14 on Senior Night

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri put together a string of bonus-point wins through the middleweights to rally past No. 16 Oklahoma, posting a 23-14 Big 12 dual at the Hearnes Center on Feb. 13.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri defeated No. 16 Oklahoma 23-14 on Feb. 13 at the Hearnes Center, building a decisive cushion with a run of bonus-point wins through the 149- to 184-pound flights.

The Tigers’ middleweights supplied the swing. No. 3 Aeoden Sinclair closed at 184 by technical fall, 22-6, piling up multiple three-point takedowns and a riding-time point that ended the bout early. No. 9 Cam Steed followed with a 21-3 technical fall at 174 after a sequence of four-point nearfalls in the second period. No. 16 Teague Travis added a 15-4 major decision at 157; Travis recorded late takedowns and finished with a riding-time point to secure the bonus.

That five-match stretch, from 149 through 184, turned a narrow contest into a multi-point margin for the Tigers on Senior Night. Missouri also collected close decisions from No. 21 Josh Edmond at 149 and No. 26 J. Conway at 165, each adding decision points that helped manage the scoreboard while the bonus results accumulated.

Oklahoma mounted late responses but could not erase the gap. No. 30 Conrad Hendriksen upset No. 16 Mack Mauger 4-1 at 125 with a sudden-victory takedown in overtime. In the upper weights DJ Parker closed with an 18-4 major over No. 9 Evan Bates at 197, and Juan Mora posted a 14-4 major at heavyweight. Those bonus wins trimmed the margin but arrived after Missouri’s middleweight surge had produced the lead.

Missouri’s Senior Night victory carried season implications. The home program improved its standing in conference play while Oklahoma’s road loss pushed the Sooners further from the top of the Big 12 race.

The dual featured tight margins and decisive bonus swings: several low-scoring decisions and a cluster of high-value bonus results decided the outcome in Columbia.
