Penn State @ Lehigh Recap
Penn State rolled into Bethlehem and left with a 37-3 road win over Lehigh on December 8, 2024 at Lehigh University. The Nittany Lions piled up bonus points all night en route to the 34-point margin.
A string of bonus-point victories in the middle and upper weights decided the dual. At 165 pounds Mitchell Mesenbrink put the match away with an 18-1 technical fall, and at 174 Levi Haines sealed a takedown-heavy night with a fall. Up in the heavyweight slot Greg Kerkvliet closed the dual with a 15-0 technical fall to cap Penn State’s scoring outburst.
Penn State’s majors kept the pressure on between those stoppages. Carter Starocci’s 15-1 major decision at 184 added four team points, and the lineup also included other bonus wins that widened the gap and made a comeback unlikely for Lehigh. The accumulation of majors, tech falls, and a pin across several consecutive matches was the clear turning point, producing an insurmountable lead before the dual reached the late weights.
Lehigh managed just three team points in the loss, but the outcome was settled once Penn State’s bonus-point run took hold. The final 37-3 score reflected a dominant performance by the Nittany Lions in Bethlehem on December 8.
