Four bonus-point results and a late comeback by No. 2 LaDarion Lockett powered No. 5 Oklahoma State past No. 13 Northern Iowa in Stillwater.
STILLWATER, Okla. — No. 5 Oklahoma State defeated No. 13 Northern Iowa 34-3 on Friday at Oklahoma State University, using four bonus-point results and a late rally at 165 to build a 31-point margin.
Troy Spratley opened the dual with a 6-1 decision at 125, and Jax Forrest followed with a 19-4 technical fall at 133 that produced five team points. Sergio Vega, ranked No. 2 at 141, converted a ranked matchup into a 14-3 major decision, and No. 6 Landon Robideau added a 14-4 major decision at 157; those bonus outcomes supplied the bulk of the scoring cushion.
No. 2 LaDarion Lockett erased a 4-1 deficit at 165 with a third-period takedown and two near-fall points to finish 6-4, a late sequence that removed doubt from the dual’s outcome. Casey Swiderski won 9-2 at 149 and Alex Facundo, listed at No. 7 at 174, finished 5-1 to keep the streak of Oklahoma State victories rolling.
Northern Iowa earned its lone win via sudden victory when Nick Fox edged Zack Ryder 3-1 at 184. No. 7 Cody Merrill posted a 2-0 decision at 197, and the night ended when No. 7 Konner Doucet recorded a third-period pin at 285 to complete Oklahoma State’s collection of bonus results.
The Oklahoma State release noted the Cowboys took nine of 10 bouts and improved their season and conference records; team reporting put OSU at 11-1 overall and 6-0 in the Big 12 while Northern Iowa fell to 9-5 and 3-1 in conference play.
