LIU @ Hofstra Recap
Hofstra knocked off Long Island University 31-0 in Hempstead, NY on February 9, 2026, sweeping the dual with a string of bonus-point victories that decided the meet. The Pride piled up tech falls, a pin, and several majors to create an insurmountable margin by the end of the evening.
Teague Strobel’s 17-2 technical fall at 125 pounds and Gauge Shipp’s fall at 133 were two of the most decisive moments, accounting for 11 team points combined and putting heavy pressure on LIU. Will Conlon’s 19-4 technical fall at 197 added another five-team-point burst late in the lineup and helped lock up the shutout margin. Chase Liardi’s 9-1 major decision at 141 and Frank Volpe’s 13-3 major at 157 were additional bonus efforts that padded Hofstra’s total.
Long Island did grab a couple of bonus wins of its own, with Brayden Roberts notching an 8-0 major decision at 165 and Anthony D`alesio posting a 15-4 major at 184, but Hofstra’s collection of pins, tech falls, and majors made the difference on the scoreboard. Gauge Shipp’s fall and the two tech falls by Strobel and Conlon were particularly costly for LIU because those outcomes yield the largest swings in team points.
In the end Hofstra’s high-rate bonus scoring separated the teams. Individual dominance in several key matches produced the decisive scoring runs and left Hofstra with the 31-0 victory at home.
