Drexel @ Cal Poly Recap
Drexel Men's Wrestling knocked off Cal Poly 24-12 in San Luis Obispo on December 20, 2025. The margin was decided by a string of bonus-point wins and a key decision at heavyweight that swung the team score firmly in Drexel’s favor.
Three matches produced the bulk of Drexel’s cushion. At 141 pounds Jordan Soriano (#23) scored a 15-3 major decision for four team points, and at 174 Jasiah Queen (#14) followed with a 14-4 major decision, also worth four. Ibrahim Ameer added another major decision at 197, posting a 16-5 result that supplied the third four-point bonus of the dual. Those three majors alone accounted for 12 team points and created separation on the scoreboard.
At 285 pounds Nate Schon pulled off the upset, as the #31 heavyweight edged #20 Trevor Tinker 8-5 by decision for three more points. That victory over a higher-ranked opponent, combined with the string of majors, provided the decisive margin that Cal Poly could not overcome. Drexel’s bonus-point production and the heavyweight upset were the most important outcomes in the 24-12 road win.
