Gardner‑Webb tops VMI 30-13 on Senior Day in Boiling Springs

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Gardner‑Webb defeated Virginia Military Institute 30-13 on Feb. 15, 2026, at Gardner‑Webb.
Josh McCutchen opened the dual with a 14-2 major decision at 285 to give the Runnin’ Bulldogs an early lead. Tyson Lane followed with an 11-1 major decision at 125, and T.K. Davis — listed at No. 15 at 133 — closed the opening stretch with a 17-2 technical fall.
Dominic Ditullio supplied a momentum swing in the middle of the lineup. He forced sudden‑victory overtime at 141 and secured the match with a takedown 22 seconds into the extra period for a 9-6 win that pushed Gardner‑Webb’s advantage further.
Joseph Giordano added a technical fall at 157, finishing 18-1 after building a multi‑point lead with takedowns and near‑falls. Gardner‑Webb was also credited with a forfeit at 197.
VMI produced three victories that kept the dual contested in stretches. Phoenix Alyea won the 149‑pound match by major decision, 13-4. Ryan Vigil posted an 8-2 decision at 165, and Andrew Barford pinned Andrew Wilson at 184.
