The Jackrabbits recorded five bonus-point wins, including a pin by No. 22 Cael Swensen and technical falls from No. 15 Moses Espinoza-Owens and No. 5 Bennett Berge.
BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State defeated Air Force 37-5 at Frost Arena on Jan. 30, 2026.
The Jackrabbits built a large margin with five bonus-point victories while Air Force’s only bonus outcome came from Carter Nogle’s 20-3 technical fall at 141.
Daniel Guanajuato opened the scoring for South Dakota State with a 10-1 major decision at 125. He scored a first-period takedown, recorded a second-period nearfall, added a third-period takedown with 27 seconds remaining and finished the match 10-1 with a riding-time point.
No. 22 Cael Swensen pinned EJ Beloncik at 157 after recording multiple takedowns in the opening periods. The fall added a full bonus to SDSU’s team total.
No. 15 Moses Espinoza-Owens followed with a 20-5 technical fall at 174, scoring takedowns in each period, earning a riding-time point in the third and closing the match with a late takedown that ended the bout by technical fall.
The upper weights supplied additional bonus scoring. No. 5 Bennett Berge finished Owen Heiser by technical fall, 17-2, at 197. At 285, No. 27 Luke Rasmussen won by technical fall, 16-0, using early near-fall and takedown sequences to build a commanding lead.
Tight decisions filled the remaining matches. Cale Seaton held off Gavin Caprella 5-4 at 133 with an escape with 25 seconds left. Colin Dupill’s first-period takedown supplied the margin in a 4-2 decision at 149. No. 31 Marcus Espinoza-Owens used a second-period takedown and a third-period escape to edge Logan Fowler 4-2 at 165.
SDSU improved to 11-3 overall and 4-2 in Big 12 duals; Air Force fell to 4-4 and 0-3 in conference action. The Jackrabbits’ three technical falls, one major decision and a pin accounted for the 32-point margin and prevented a Falcons comeback after the 141 bout.
South Dakota State returns to Frost Arena for its next home dual; Air Force heads to North Dakota State next on the dual slate.
