Pittsburgh @ Iowa Recap
Iowa blanked Pittsburgh 36-0 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City on November 21, 2025. The Hawkeyes piled up bonus points and held serve in the ranked matchups to cruise to a shutout in the nonconference dual.
A string of bonus-point victories in the middle weights swung things decisively in Iowa’s favor. Drake Ayala, ranked #3, put up a 13-4 major decision over #33 Evan Tallmadge, and Patrick Kennedy, the #2 at 174, added an 11-2 major decision. The biggest burst came from Michael Caliendo, also a top-3 wrestler at 165, who overwhelmed #26 Dylan Evans 22-6 for a technical fall, a five-point haul that widened the margin substantially.
The dual also featured a tight upset at 197 where #8 Massoma Endene edged #4 Mac Stout 5-4, one of the rare close matches on the card and a notable win for Iowa’s lineup. At heavyweight, #6 Ben Kueter closed things out with a 2-0 decision over Dayton Pitzer to cap the scoring.
Iowa’s combination of bonus production and holding serve in the ranked bouts left Pittsburgh scoreless. The 36-0 final reflected both the Hawkeyes’ depth across the card and their ability to convert opportunities into extra team points.
