Minnesota rolled to a 35-6 dual meet victory over Purdue on February 9, 2025 at the Bierman Field Athletic Building in Minneapolis. The Golden Gophers collected the kind of bonus-point wins that make a comfortable final margin, turning high-scoring bouts into team points across the lineup.

The heavyweight presence of Gable Steveson stood out, as he defeated Hayden Filipovich 18-3 by technical fall, delivering five team points and helping put the dual out of reach. Max McEnelly also added a tech fall at 184 pounds, posting a 20-4 technical fall over Orlando Cruz that kept Minnesota’s margin growing on the mat.

At the lower weights Minnesota continued to pile up bonus scoring. Vance VomBaur ran up a 22-6 technical fall at 141 pounds, and Tommy Askey dominated at 157 with a 21-2 technical fall, both worth five team points. Drew Roberts chipped in a 13-3 major decision at 149 for four more points, so Minnesota combined multiple tech falls and a major to create a decisive scoring run.

Purdue managed to keep the score respectable in a few matches, but Minnesota’s assortment of bonus-point victories was the difference. Six bonus wins accounted for the bulk of the 35-6 final, leaving Minnesota with a convincing Big Ten dual result in Minneapolis.
