Kent State @ Rider Recap
Rider topped Kent State 28-10 in a Mid-American Conference dual at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J., on January 8, 2026. The final margin reflected Rider’s ability to produce bonus-point wins against ranked opponents and push the team score well past Kent State’s offense.
What decided the dual was Rider’s barrage of bonus victories. At 125 pounds, #24 Tyler Klinsky beat Nico Calello 10-2 by major decision, and #16 Elijah Griffin registered a fall at 141 to rack up maximum points. Enrique Munguia, ranked #31 at 174, added a 16-1 technical fall, and those high-value results provided the bulk of Rider’s scoreboard advantage.
Kent State got a major decision of its own when Ronald Dimmerling turned JP Hangey 9-0 at 184, supplying four important points for the visitors. Rider answered with another bonus at 197 when #24 Brock Zurawski posted a 14-2 major decision over Blake Schaffer, which helped preserve the lead and pull the score further away.
In the end, the differential in bonus points was the story. Rider’s four bonus wins, including pins and major/technical decisions over ranked opponents, produced enough offense to overcome Kent State’s competitive moments and secure a comfortable 28-10 dual victory.
