Buffalo Men’s Wrestling topped Ohio Men’s Wrestling 28-9 in Athens, OH on February 24, 2024 at Ohio University. The Bulls collected enough bonus points in a few decisive bouts to build a margin Ohio could not overcome.

The match swung on three bonus-point victories. At 133 pounds Tommy Maddox scored a 14-3 major decision over Mason Brugh to pick up four team points and give Buffalo a momentum boost. That margin was extended when Kaleb Burgess finished Derek Raike by fall at 149 for six team points. Later in the lineup Chase Kranitz delivered another fall, pinning Robert Gaylord at 184 and adding six more team points to seal the dual.

Those three results accounted for the bulk of Buffalo’s bonus scoring, creating a decisive run in the middle weights that defined the outcome. Ohio was competitive in other bouts but could not match the Bulls’ bonus production, and the two late pins removed any chance of a comeback.

In the end Buffalo’s ability to convert opportunities into major decision and falls proved the difference, leaving the final score 28-9 in Athens. The Bulls’ bonus-point punch gave them a comfortable margin and left Ohio needing more bonus scoring to change the result.
