NC State scored a convincing 33-6 win over North Carolina at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh on Feb. 2, 2024. The Wolfpack’s margin was built on dominant bonus-point performances that left the Tar Heels with little room to respond.

Six bonus-point victories accounted for 27 of NC State’s 33 team points and proved decisive. Technical falls and major decisions were the difference all night, turning routine lead changes into a commanding advantage and putting the dual out of reach.

Several standout finishes highlighted the rout. At 133 pounds Kai Orine closed with a 21-3 technical fall that secured five team points. Trent Hidlay’s 18-2 technical fall at 197 added another five. Up top, Owen Trephan closed the night with a 21-5 technical fall at 285 for yet another five-point bonus. Middle weights mattered too; Derek Fields picked up a 11-1 major decision at 165 to chip in four bonus points.

North Carolina finished with six team points, unable to match the Wolfpack’s bonus scoring. Between the trio of technical falls and a couple majors, NC State turned bonus wins into a decisive margin and walked away with the dual at home.
