Binghamton wins at Sacred Heart, 29-3, fueled by two major decisions

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Binghamton scored two major decisions and won nine of 10 bouts to beat Sacred Heart 29-3 in an EIWA dual on Feb. 7, 2026.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Binghamton defeated Sacred Heart 29-3 in an Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association dual at Sacred Heart University on Feb. 7, 2026.

No. 18 Carter Baer closed the dual with an 11-1 major decision at 174, adding a third-period takedown and a subsequent +1 scoring entry to seal the margin. Baer’s bonus win delivered four team points and capped the Bearcats’ run of bonus scoring.

Mikey Squires produced the other major decision, posting a 12-1 win at 197. Squires opened with an early takedown and added two four-point nearfalls in the third period to secure the major and four team points.

Those two majors supplied eight bonus points and, combined with steady decision wins elsewhere, created the 26-point margin. Sacred Heart’s lone scoring came at 141, where John Hildebrandt beat Jack Kazalas 7-3.

No. 32 Will Ebert opened the dual for Binghamton with a 4-0 decision at 184, scoring an escape and a takedown in the third period. Trent Sibble provided a late clincher at 285, taking a takedown with 35 seconds remaining to edge Brendan Gilchrist 9-6.

Dillon Arrick’s early takedown and nearfalls led to a 9-3 decision at 133, and Carson Wagner used a second-period escape and takedown plus a third-period penalty to finish 5-0 at 125. Caleb Sweet (149) and Fin Nadeau (157) also posted decisions that contributed to Binghamton’s team total.

Binghamton’s athletics release and local reports said the Bearcats won nine of 10 bouts in their final EIWA dual of the season and listed team and individual context, including Baer’s win streak and the team’s dual-meet consistency. The athletics release reported Binghamton at 7-3 overall and 4-1 in EIWA play after the dual.

Binghamton will next travel to face Cornell on Feb. 14, according to local coverage.
