Lock Haven @ Northwestern Recap
Northwestern Men's Wrestling topped Lock Haven Men's Wrestling 19-13 in Evanston, Illinois on December 19, 2025. The Big Ten squad edged out the MAC program in a dual decided by bonus-point wrestling in the upper weights.
Two major decisions provided the swing. At 184 pounds Northwestern’s J.D. Perez rolled to a 17-3 major decision over Lock Haven’s Sam Gautreau, putting four bonus points on the board for the Wildcats. Lock Haven answered at 141, where #23 Wyatt Henson defeated #26 Billy Dekraker 13-4, also by major decision and also worth four team points. Those were the only bonus-point finishes and they accounted for the most decisive scoring in the meet.
With the two majors combining for eight points, Northwestern’s performance at 184 proved especially important; Perez’s major helped create the margin Lock Haven could not overcome even with Henson’s ranked victory at 141. Outside of those bouts the dual stayed close, but the extra team points from the majors ultimately separated the teams and produced the six-point final margin in favor of Northwestern.
