Purdue @ Wisconsin Recap
Purdue left Madison with a 33-7 road win over Wisconsin on February 7, 2025 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Boilermakers piled up bonus points en route to a 26-point victory, and Wisconsin’s scoring was limited to a single major decision.
A key piece of Purdue’s margin came at 125 pounds when Matt Ramos turned in an 11-2 major decision, delivering four team points and helping build separation on the scoreboard. Wisconsin answered with a significant result at 157, as Luke Mechler shut down Wyatt Krejsa 12-0 for a major decision, one of the Badgers’ few highlight moments and their only bonus-point outing in the dual.
The turning point came in the upper weights, where Purdue finished the night with decisive bonus wins. Orlando Cruz recorded a fall at 184, and later Hayden Filipovich closed the dual with a fall at heavyweight. Those two pins combined for 12 team points and effectively put the match out of reach, turning a competitive mid-dual score into a comfortable road win for Purdue.
Purdue’s ability to convert opportunities into bonus points was the story of the dual. Wisconsin showed resistance in spots, but with multiple majors and two late falls, Purdue claimed the meet 33-7 and kept momentum in Big Ten play.
