North Dakota State @ Northern Colorado Recap
North Dakota State topped Northern Colorado 29-12 in Greeley on January 17, 2025, as the Bison collected enough bonus points to build a comfortable margin at the University of Northern Colorado.
A decisive moment came early when NDSU’s Kyle Burwick rolled to a 15-0 technical fall over Mikai Alirez, delivering five team points and a sizable momentum swing. Northern Colorado answered back when Andrew Alirez produced a fall of his own over Gideon Cole, putting the Bears on the board with six big points and briefly tightening the score.
North Dakota State responded with a series of bonus victories that ultimately decided the dual. At 157 pounds Max Petersen earned a 12-2 major decision to add four more team points, and at 174 Devin Wasley finished by fall for six points, pushing the Bison well ahead and making a comeback unlikely. Those bonus-point results, combined with other NDSU majors, were the difference in the final tally.
The Bison’s ability to convert multiple matches into majors and falls separated the teams, with Northern Colorado’s pin a notable highlight for the home side but not enough to overcome NDSU’s bonus scoring. Final scoreline was 29-12 in favor of North Dakota State, a 17-point win on the road.
