Duke @ Cal Poly Recap

Cal Poly beat Duke 28-16 in San Luis Obispo on January 10, 2026, handing the Mustangs a 12-point dual meet victory over the Blue Devils. The match featured multiple bonus-point finishes that ultimately separated the teams, with Cal Poly picking up several extra-team points in decisive fashion.

The turning stretch came in the bonus department. Koda Holeman, ranked #22 at 125 pounds, dominated Spencer von Savoye 19-3 by technical fall for five team points. Anthony Berg added another technical fall at 157, winning 18-3, and Ceasar Garza, ranked #28 at 184, closed that run with a 21-5 technical fall. Those three tech falls produced the bulk of Cal Poly’s margin and forced Duke to play catch-up.

Duke’s brightest moment came at 149 where Dylan Ross delivered a major decision, 14-5, to keep the Blue Devils in the hunt and provide four team points. Outside of Ross’s bonus, however, Cal Poly’s collection of high-value wins, combined with a major decision win in the upper weights, provided enough cushion to finish comfortably ahead.

By the final buzzer Cal Poly had converted several opportunities into bonus points and that efficiency was the decisive factor in the 28-16 result in San Luis Obispo.
