Lock Haven @ Bloomsburg

Lock Haven pulled away from Bloomsburg 32-12 in a MAC dual at Bloomsburg University. The Huskies opened the night with an early pin, but Lock Haven’s middle-weight surge produced the bonus points that created an insurmountable margin.

Bloomsburg struck first when Jace Schafer secured a first-period fall at 125 to put the home team on the board. That bookend pin would be one of two for Bloomsburg on the night, but it could not stop Lock Haven’s momentum through the heart of the lineup.

No. 30 Wyatt Henson delivered the dual’s opening blow in the middle weights, rolling to a 20-4 technical fall at 141. Henson opened the match with a first-period nearfall and added more offense to close the bout. He was followed by No. 29 Lucas Kapusta, who stopped Bloomsburg 149-pounder Cael Raines by technical fall; Kapusta’s second-period attack included back-to-back four-point nearfalls and riding-time scoring that put the bout well out of reach.

Lock Haven’s bonus run continued as Nick Stampoulos posted a 14-3 major decision at 157 and Avery Bassett added an 8-0 major at 174. Sam Gautreau then closed the sequence with a 21-6 technical fall at 184. Those techs and majors supplied the bulk of Lock Haven’s team points and swung the dual decisively in the visitors’ favor.

Bloomsburg answered with a late bookend of its own when heavyweight Mason Rebuck closed the match with a pin at 285, finishing the dual on a high note for the Huskies. The two pins — the opening fall by Schafer and Rebuck’s closing pin — were valuable, but they arrived amid Lock Haven’s sustained run of bonus results.

In the middle and upper weights, Lock Haven also secured decisions that kept Bloomsburg from mounting a comeback. Tucker Hogan recorded a 7-2 decision at 197, and Lock Haven’s depth and ability to convert bonus opportunities ultimately decided the night.
