Cornell @ Lehigh Recap
Lehigh edged Cornell 20-17 in Bethlehem, PA on January 10, 2026, a dual decided by a handful of bonus-point outcomes and a couple of tight ranked decisions. The scoreboard never blew open, but the majors and technical falls swung the math in the hosts’ favor and left Cornell just short.
Cornell accumulated much of its scoring through bonus victories in the middle weights. At 149 pounds, #2 Jaxon Joy delivered a 9-0 major decision over Owen Reinsel, a four-point swing that pushed Cornell into contention. #6 Meyer Shapiro followed with an 18-3 technical fall at 157 for five more team points, underscoring Cornell’s strength in the heart of the lineup and supplying a large share of the visitors’ total.
Lehigh got the crucial responses when they needed them. At 165, #10 Max Brignola produced a 23-7 technical fall, adding five pivotal points for the Mountain Hawks. Earlier in a high-profile matchup, Luke Stanich (#4) beat #5 Vince Cornella 5-4 by decision, a narrow win that kept Lehigh within striking distance and proved vital in the final arithmetic. Those bonus points from Brignola, combined with Stanich’s slim decision and other team contributions, were enough for Lehigh to finish three points ahead.
Taken together, the dual came down to bonus-point production and a couple of close ranked matchups. Cornell’s majors and technical falls generated most of its offense, but Lehigh’s timely bonus and the tight victory at 141 allowed the hosts to escape with the 20-17 victory.
