Virginia beat American 30-8 at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville on February 16, 2025. The Cavaliers piled up bonus points en route to a 22-point victory, turning several bouts into decisive team points.

Virginia picked up major and technical wins that swung the dual. At 133 pounds Gable Porter posted an 11-2 major decision, and at 141 Dylan Cedeno closed out a 15-0 technical fall to deliver five team points. Those bonus victories, particularly Cedeno’s dominant technical fall, were key to building a cushion Virginia never relinquished.

American’s clearest answer came from Jack Nies at 157 pounds. Nies put together a 21-4 technical fall, earning American five big points and showing life in the lineup. That performance narrowed the scoreboard momentarily but was an island of offense in an otherwise one-sided night.

Virginia regained control via more bonus scoring, notably Nick Hamilton’s 23-5 technical fall at 165, and the Cavaliers closed with additional major-point production to finish with 30 team points. In the end American could not overcome Virginia’s string of bonus-point wins, and the Cavs left Charlottesville with a convincing dual meet victory.
