Army topped Columbia 25-13 at Army West Point in West Point, NY on January 14, 2024. The Black Knights separated themselves through bonus-point wrestling, piling up pins and a major that proved decisive in the final margin.

Two falls supplied the biggest swings for Army. Ethan Berginc scored a fall at 125 pounds for six team points, and Braden Basile also finished by fall at 133 for another six. Those pins, combined with Lucas Stoddard’s 14-3 major decision at heavyweight, created a bonus-point cushion that Columbia could not erase.

Columbia’s standout result came at 184 pounds, where Aaron Ayzerov dominated Daniel Lawrence 11-0 for a major decision and four team points. Ayzerov’s win kept the Lions competitive in the middle weights and limited the deficit, but it wasn’t enough to counteract Army’s trio of bonus victories.

In the end the dual was decided by Army’s ability to convert three bouts into bonus points. Columbia earned quality scoring in a handful of matches, highlighted by Ayzerov’s major, but the two pins and Stoddard’s major provided the separation that produced the 12-point victory for Army.
