Drexel @ Brown Recap
Drexel edged Brown 19-15 in a tight dual at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island on February 10, 2024. The teams traded key moments, but a pair of bonus-point wins stood out as the decisive elements in the EIWA visiting team’s victory.
Brown’s Blake Saito delivered the most dramatic moment for the hosts, scoring a fall at 157 pounds for six team points and giving Brown a big lift. That pin was a momentum swing and showcased Saito’s ability to finish under pressure, keeping the Bears firmly in contention as the dual tightened.
Drexel answered with a critical bonus of its own when Ethan Wilson dominated at 184 pounds, posting a 14-3 major decision for four team points. Wilson’s bonus not only neutralized Brown’s pin but also proved pivotal to the final margin, as Drexel’s collected bonus scoring and decisions across the lineup ultimately added up to the 19-15 final.
In the end the dual came down to those bonus outcomes. Brown fought hard and picked up a highlight with Saito’s fall, but Drexel’s ability to produce bonus points, most notably Wilson’s major, was the difference in a closely contested meet between an Ivy program and an EIWA opponent.
