Northwestern topped Maryland 27-12 in Evanston on January 9, 2026, taking the dual behind a string of bonus-point wins that proved decisive. The Wildcats collected multiple majors and technical falls that created a gap Maryland could not overcome.

The meet featured an early upset when Northwestern’s Sean Spidle, ranked 23, took a 4-2 decision over Maryland’s No. 12 Braxton Brown. That result gave Northwestern an important advantage in the ranked matchup column and shifted momentum in their favor.
