Arizona State @ West Virginia

West Virginia topped Arizona State 24-13 in Morgantown on February 23, 2025, in a Big 12 dual at West Virginia University. The Mountaineers collected the bonus points that decided the meet, while Arizona State answered with two high-impact results of its own.

Peyton Hall’s technical fall, a 15-0 win at 165 pounds, was the most dominant individual performance for West Virginia and worth five team points. Ian Bush added another bonus result at 197, taking an 11-3 major decision for four more points. Those two bonus victories created the cushion WV needed to control the dual.

Arizona State got a major decision from Richard Figueroa at 125, an 11-2 win that produced four team points, and Cohlton Schultz produced the biggest single-bout swing for the Sun Devils by pinning Wilson Spires at 285 for six team points. Schultz’s fall cut into the margin, but the Mountaineers’ combination of a tech fall and a major decision kept them comfortably ahead.

In the end the bonus-point differential determined the outcome; West Virginia’s five- and four-point victories offset Arizona State’s pin and major, leaving the Mountaineers with an 11-point victory in Morgantown.
