Army West Point @ Binghamton Recap
Army West Point edged Binghamton 22-11 at Binghamton University on January 21, 2024, in a dual where a pair of bonus-point bouts ultimately decided the outcome. The two featured wins — a major decision for Army and a technical fall for Binghamton — accounted for nine team points and shaped the flow of the meet.
At 157 pounds Nate Lukez produced the swing for Army, defeating Carter Baer 11-3 by major decision to earn four team points. That result handed Army a valuable bonus that stretched the margin at a critical stage and forced Binghamton to chase extra points the rest of the way.
Binghamton answered in a big way at 197 pounds when Lou DePrez scored an 18-2 technical fall over Wolfgang Frable, collecting five team points. DePrez’s tech fall was the biggest single scoring play of the dual and temporarily swung momentum back toward the host school, trimming the gap and creating a more competitive late sequence.
In the end Army’s ability to cash in on bonus scoring proved decisive. Between Lukez’s major and a collection of decisions that kept the scoreboard ticking for Army, West Point closed with an 11-point margin. Binghamton’s DePrez delivered the marquee bonus for the home team, but it was not enough to overcome Army’s combined bonus and decision scoring on the day.
