Columbia @ Bucknell Recap
Columbia edged Bucknell 25-16 in Lewisburg, PA on February 21, 2025, handing the Bison a home loss in a dual decided largely by bonus-point wrestling. The Lions collected multiple falls and a major that separated the teams on the scoreboard.
Sulayman Bah’s fall at 125 delivered a six-point swing that energized Columbia’s team scoring, and Kai Owen’s fall at 149 added another six-pointer that widened the gap. Nick Fine’s 9-0 major decision at 184 padded Columbia’s advantage with four more team points, giving the visitors the kind of bonus production that proved hard for Bucknell to overcome.
Bucknell answered with some heavy outings of its own. Dillon Bechtold’s 20-4 technical fall at 197 was the Bison’s biggest individual result and pulled them back into contention late, but those bonus points came after Columbia’s cluster of bonus wins had already established a lead. The timing and concentration of Columbia’s bonus scoring ultimately made the difference.
Individual bonus victories decided the dual more than narrow decisions. Columbia’s three bonus wins supplied the cushion to withstand Bucknell’s comeback attempts, and while the Bison produced some big results, they could not overcome the visitors’ extra-team points. The 25-16 final reflects a dual where a few decisive bouts determined the outcome.
