Oklahoma State knocked off NC State 22-12 at North Carolina State University in Raleigh on January 5, 2024. The Cowboys collected enough bonus points to separate themselves in a tight dual, while the Wolfpack fought back with a pair of heavyweight bonus wins.

Daton Fix’s 11-3 major decision at 133 pounds was a key swing for Oklahoma State. That four-team-point victory gave the visitors critical bonus scoring and helped create a cushion Oklahoma State could protect the rest of the way.

NC State answered with big performances in the upper weights. Jackson Arrington picked up a 10-0 major decision at 149 pounds for four team points, and Trent Hidlay closed with a 21-4 technical fall at 197 pounds that produced five team points. Hidlay’s technical fall was the largest single scoring play of the night and kept NC State within reach heading into the final bouts.

In the end the bonus-point exchanges determined the outcome. Oklahoma State’s ability to secure bonus scoring, highlighted by Fix’s major, proved decisive against NC State’s two bonus wins, and the Cowboys left Raleigh with a 22-12 road victory.
