Purdue @ Iowa Recap
Iowa picked up a 34-6 Big Ten dual over Purdue in Iowa City on January 19, 2024. The Hawkeyes piled up bonus points throughout the lineup, turning a close meet into a lopsided victory by the middle and upper weights.
Cullan Schriever and Real Woods supplied big early margins at 133 and 141, each earning major decisions (20-7 and 8-0) that delivered four team points apiece and put pressure on Purdue to respond. Those two bonus results gave Iowa a clear cushion heading into the middle weights.
The turning point came in the middle of the card, where a run of technical falls broke the dual open. Victor Voinovich III recorded a 19-4 technical fall at 149, Patrick Kennedy followed with a 19-4 technical fall at 174, and Zach Glazier added a 20-5 technical fall at 197. That stretch produced three straight bonus-point wins and essentially decided the outcome. Bradley Hill closed out the day at heavyweight with another 19-4 technical fall, padding the margin and keeping Purdue off the scoreboard for the late bouts.
Purdue managed six team points, but Iowa’s sequence of majors and technical falls was the difference. The Hawkeyes’ depth and ability to secure bonus points in multiple weight classes was the decisive factor in the 34-6 result.
