Appalachian State @ Bellarmine Recap
Appalachian State defeated Bellarmine 23-19 in a SoCon dual on January 31, 2025, at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY. The final was decided by a string of bonus-point results that tilted the scoreboard in favor of the Mountaineers.
Appalachian State piled up bonus points with several dominant wins. Chad Bellis delivered a technical fall at 133, 18-3, and Jeremiah Price followed with a 25-8 technical fall at 157. Will Miller added a major decision at 165, 10-1, and Carson Floyd closed out his bout with a fall at 197. Those bonus outcomes accounted for the bulk of Appalachian State’s scoring and separated the teams in a tight matchup.
Bellarmine answered in key spots, however. Devan Hendricks scored a 18-7 major decision at 184 to pull the hosts back into contention, and Daulton Mayer’s fall at 285 provided a match-ending boost for Bellarmine. Mayer’s pin narrowed the gap, but Appalachian State’s earlier bonus production proved decisive.
In the end the 4-point margin reflected a dual shaped by pins, technical falls and majors on both sides. Appalachian State’s collection of bonus wins gave them just enough to leave Louisville with the 23-19 victory, while Bellarmine’s late big results kept the dual competitive through the final buzzer.
