Arizona State beat California Baptist 34-10 at California Baptist University in Riverside, Calif., on January 12, 2025. The Sun Devils built a commanding lead thanks to a string of bonus-point victories that ultimately decided the dual.

Arizona State piled up five bonus wins, two of which swung the dual in a big way. At 141 pounds Daniel Miranda recorded a fall to push a lead that kept growing, and at 157 Michael Kilic turned in a 17-5 major decision to add four more team points and widen the gap. Those bonus results gave Arizona State separation that California Baptist struggled to overcome.

California Baptist did get a highlight when Carter Schmidt answered with an 11-1 major decision at 174, the Lancers’ lone bonus-point victory, but ASU’s depth kept the pressure on. Cohlton Schultz closed things out at heavyweight with a pin that capped the scoring and underscored how the Sun Devils collected bonus points across the lineup.

In the end the dual was decided by Arizona State’s ability to finish matches. Falls and a key major from Kilic produced the margin, and California Baptist could not match that level of bonus scoring despite Schmidt’s effort. The 34-10 final reflected a night in which bonus points made the difference.
