Columbia @ Princeton Recap
Princeton defeated Columbia 26-7 at the Ivy dual in Princeton, New Jersey on January 26, 2024. The Tigers piled up enough team points to build a comfortable margin, and bonus-point victories played a major role in the outcome.
Two major decisions from Princeton supplied critical bonus points. At 165 pounds Blaine Bergey handled Kyle Mosher 12-3 for a major decision, worth four team points, and at heavyweight Aidan Conner shut out Vincent Mueller 10-0 for another major. Columbia’s biggest result came at 174, where Lennox Wolak scored a 21-11 major decision over Michael Squires, pulling four bonus points back for the Lions but not enough to swing the dual.
Those bonus-point outcomes separated the teams. Princeton’s pair of majors produced an extra eight-team points compared with Columbia’s single major, and that swing, combined with the Tigers’ work in the other matches, created the 19-point final margin. Bergey’s and Conner’s decisive wins were the clearest margins of victory on the scoresheet, while Wolak’s major kept Columbia competitive in individual bouts but ultimately left the Lions behind in the team tally.
